Brent Berkeley aims to bring back the quality of products from the days when our grandfathers were young. A time when tools were still made to last and the polluting disposable industry did not exist.
For those of you wondering about the inspiration behind our high-quality product, it comes from an actual real person, Sir Brent Berkeley.
Brent was someone who many considered to be a living legend when he was alive. He was a very loyal and amicable person who was close with his comrades and friends alike. He had the unique characteristic of being both modest in his lifestyle but with immense willpower. This was also noticeable because he had a fantastic sense of style combined with his wild yet kempt beard.
We’ll get back to the importance of that beard in a second. Brent Berkeley was an explorer at heart and a pioneer in action. He had the mission to see what the world had to offer and sample everything possible. Whether it’s local delicacies or the local ladies, Brent wasn’t shy by any means and found a way to share his legacy worldwide.
Then the war came, and Brent did what he thought best and fought for the right side. He made sure to not just be a brother in arms in theory but in practice as well. Yet during the war itself, on a combat mission, he lost his combat knife and had no close combat weapons available. The only thing he had left on him was his handmade quality straight razor.
The quality survived with Brent during the war, and it was there he learned just how valuable a high-quality tool is. This concept is the underlying vision we have here in relation to our products. Travelling back to that era, it was a time where everything was taken a bit slower, integrity was based on action versus how one looked, and everything was made with the intention to last as resources were more valued.
We discovered the same razor that was passed on down to us was the razor that he used during the war (pictured below). It shows just how long-lasting products can be made and that they're truly not just an investment but a way to be more mindful and sustainable without even thinking about it.
This was when Brent Berkely, Primal Essentials, was born.
We decided to take it upon ourselves to head back to an era where you bought a straight razor, and it worked well every time. So, feel free to travel back in time with us and take a look at how items should be made, not bought in disposable plastic containers that are meant for single usage only. We wanted to honour a man who was not only family to us but also a legend and family to many others. That's why our first product ever was the straight razor in the design we were given, to memorialize what a great man he was and what it means to have dependable and great tools. We feel that he would be content with our products as well.
